Integrating Sources (Part I)

During today's class, we will further our discussion on the differences between paraphrasing, summary and quotation, talking about when to use each and why. We will begin with a dictogloss example to stimulate discussion about the similarities and differences between these three ways of incorporating another's work into your own, while always remembering to give credit where due.

If you still find yourself confused about the difference between each after today's class, please consult this useful reference:

After this discussion, we will move on to learn about a paragraph organizational technique known as P.I.E., an acronym that stands for Point, Illustration, Example. This is an excellent tool for improving the effectiveness of your writing by ordering things logically and for best effect.
